Programme on Biomedical Waste Management in Karnataka

Biomedical waste has become a major environmental and public health concern in recent times, due to its infectious nature and potential to cause hazard to human health and environment. The key to proper biomedical waste management is to develop a system and culture through education, training and persistent motivation of the stakeholders handling the waste.

C.P.R. Environmental Education Centre conducted a series of training programmes on ‘Biomedical Waste Management’ for Medical Officers and the Para-medical staff in Tumkur and Chitradurga Districts of Karnataka. A total of 15 programmes were held covering about 360 participants.

Environmental Management and Policy Research Institute (EMPRI), Bangalore
Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, Bangalore
District Health Offices, Tumkur and Chitradurga Districts
